Pro-Cyan is a triple-action formula containing 2 strains of healthy bacteria, cranberry extract and vitamin A to help maintain a healthy urinary tract. Suitable for use during pregnancy.

Lower UTIs in the bladder are commonly known as ‘cystitis’. In more than 80% of cases, they are caused by the overgrowth of the bacteria (E.coli) originating from the digestive system or vagina, or more rarely the bloodstream. Infections from the digestive system are more common as the pathogenic bacteria that colonise in the gut are able to move easily from the anus to the urethra.  Probably for this reason, UTIs are more frequent in women than men, with an estimated half of all women in the UK having at least one UTI in their lifetime with 25% having recurrent episodes. 

• Drink 3 litres of water a day during an acute attack and 2-3 litres thereafter (to help flush the bacteria from the bladder)
• Avoid retaining urine for long periods of time
• Avoid sexual intercourse until the infection has cleared
• Wash before and after intimacy and urinate immediately after sexual intercourse
• Keep the genital area clean and wipe from front to back
• Some suggest wearing cotton underwear, avoiding tight-fitting trousers, perfumed soaps, feminine wipes and tampons

See the ingredients list in bold. Why do we use milk and soya? Milk and soya are used in the fermentation process. The good news is that the content is at a level that would not affect lactose-intolerant sufferers.

Each capsule contains:

• Minimum of 18mg cranberry PACs and 500 million live microorganisms (>5 x 108 CFU/capsule), equivalent to 2.7 billion live microorganisms per gram (>2.7 x 109 CFU/gram).
• The concentration of 500 million live microorganisms per capsule is guaranteed throughout the shelf life.

Adults and children 12+: Take 2 capsules twice daily, with food.

Children 5-11 years: Give 1 capsule daily, with food.

Pregnancy: Pro-cyan contains vitamin A, which is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Please consult your doctor or pharmacist before use if you are planning to get pregnant or are pregnant
