Throughout the day our eyes essentially store up the energy they absorb from screens and then release this energy at night (through a compound in retinal called A2E). Unfortunately, this results in oxidative damage to the delicate tissue in our eyes. Day after day, the effects of this process compound, damaging our eyesight over time.

Our eyes require macular carotenoids to protect themselves from this artificial light. Research shows that carotenoids lutein, zeaxanthin and astaxanthin are found at the back of the eye where they form the macular pigment. There is also a concentration of Meso-zeaxanthin at the centre of this pigment.
