TRAD Y SEL grey sea salt (Celtic Sea Salt) can be used for cooking, salting stocks, in traditional dishes such as pot au feu or stews, or for cooking shellfish, pasta or rice.
Because it is a moist salt, it is one of the best available for cooking in a salt crust. This cooking method gives meat or fish an incomparable moistness and brings a delicate flavour when mixed with herbs and spices before cooking.
The Guérande basin in France where Trad y Sel's Guérande salt is produced extends over 1,620 hectares. The solar technique used has a two-thousand-year history. Some salt works from Carolingian times are still in their original state; the most recent date from the 18th century. They are the northernmost salt works in Europe.
