Amethyst is a lilac to purple variety of the mineral Quartz. It forms beautiful crystals inside volcanic lava bubbles known as geodes. Due to its beautiful colour, Amethyst is one of the most popular gemstones. The ancient Greeks believed Amethyst prevented drunkenness, commonly from Brazil. 

When Amethyst is heated to more than 300 to 400 degrees its purple turns into a bright orange and is incorrectly sold as Citrine.

Beliefs

The strong healing powers of Amethyst can transmute lower vibrations to higher frequencies, transforming negative energy to love energy. Amethyst clears and repairs holes in the aura, draws in Divine energy, and aligns and fosters cooperation between energy bodies.
